NODULES

Nodules are inflammatory lesions. It is a severe stage of acne vulguris. Nodular acne comprises of pimples that are bigger than papules. These are painful and last for months. Nodules grow suppurative or hermorrhagic. Severe nodules appear as red, tender and swollen bumps on skin. One must not try to squeeze or pop nodules; as it may cause major skin injury. The touching may cause it to last for longer then it would have otherwise. Nodules even if left untreated may result in permanent scarring. 

Nodular acne cannot be treated with antibiotics or other acne treatments. Some patients of nodular acne resort to Accutane for the treatment. But Accutane carries serious side effects. Accutane must only be used when all other ace treatments are unable to work. Accutane must not be used by pregnant women as it causes serious birth defects.
