It contains sulfur, benzoyl peroxide, salicyclic acid or resorcinol. These chemical agents work by drying oil, killing bacteria and causing skin peeling.  

If the pimples are not satisfactorily treated then it is good to consult a dermatologist who then can prescribe even stronger medications.

• Oral antibiotics like doxycucline, minocycline and tetracycline

Doctors may also prescribe chemical peeling for clearing acne. Sometimes a limited exposure to sun also clears acne. Howe ever excessive exposure to sun increases the risk of skin cancer.
